The format of Try Eventing may vary from venue to venue depending on the competition facilities available to be used. Try Eventing should encompass all three disciplines within the day, allowing the competitor to get a taste of eventing, without the pressures! The jumping section may include both show jumping and cross country fences. There will be no more than 8 Show Jumping fences and a maximum of 15 efforts for the Cross Country course, which should not exceed 1500m.

To enter a Try Eventing Class, you must make you and your horse web only members.  This is free.

Three classes will be available to run and will be described only as:

  • TE80
  • TE90
  • TE100
  • The normal dressage tests will be selected by the organiser.

Fence heights for show jumping and cross country will be:

  • A maximum 80cm for TE80
  • A maximum of 90cm for TE90
  • A maximum of 1 metre for TE100
  • The cost per Try Eventing entry should not be more than €50/£50

You do not have to be a member of Eventing Ireland to take part in Try Eventing events but you must be registered as a web-only member to make an entry.  All riders must ensure they wear the correct protective headgear and body protector that meets the current standards.

All hats must be checked and tagged before competing at any Eventing Ireland event.

Rules for Try Eventing can be found in Appendix P in the Eventing Ireland Rule Book
