VETERINARY REGULATIONS FOR BALLINDENISK INTERNATIONAL : A REMINDER TO ALL COMPETITORS.
As you will have noticed by now, there are new FEI regulations regarding Equine Influenza vaccinations, which must now be entered into the FEI Horse App. The previously administered historical vaccinations may be entered by the owner, who takes a photo of the horse’s vaccination page from his passport & submits it to the FEI through the app. Booster doses, (after Jan 2025) administered by your vet must be entered in both the passport and the app, by the vet, at the time of administration.
Therefore, please make sure that your vet is aware of this requirement before vaccinating your horse. It the vet is not already FEI approved, they will have to submit a form & download the app before getting access to the horse’s record. All information, including ‘how-to’ videos, is available on the FEI website.
DO NOT leave this until the last moment…
Other points to note:
- Make sure to bring the horse, the passport and thermometer to the arrivals area.
- Horse must be under enough control to take its temperature ie; bridle should be worn and 2 people needed for the process!
- Be aware that arrivals area will be closed from 3.15 until 5pm on Wednesday, as vets will be at trot-up.
- Long Format horses must be checked in before going to trot-up and riders may be penalised or eliminated if this is not carried out!
- Short Format horses must be checked in once, even if not stabling on site, so make sure to allow enough time before your dressage.
- Another change this year is that horse’s heart must be checked on arrival, so please be patient.
- Rugs and bandages should be removed before check-in.
- Finally, please note that check-in will be closed at 7pm each evening.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE FROM THE VETERINARY TEAM!!
