Eventing Ireland once again apologise for the error in the measurement of the EI100 course at our recent Eventing Championships. As previously explained, there was an error when the EI100 course was measured and subsequently, the optimum time of 5 minutes 32 seconds was incorrect. The optimum time for the course should have been 5 minutes and this was discovered during the running of the class. We are acutely aware of the time, effort and dedication that all competitors have put into getting to and competing at the Championships and know that this is a less than ideal situation.
In an effort to be as fair as possible to all competitors, it has been agreed that all time penalties for the EI100 classes will be removed. Additionally, it has been agreed that all those in the EI100 classes placed on Sunday at the prize giving will keep their placings. In addition, those placed following the removal of the time penalties will also be valid. We feel that is the fairest way to deal with this matter. The website will shortly be updated to reflect the above.
Prize money will be sent to these classes shortly. Please note that if someone was first and moved to fifth following the removal of time penalties, the prize money for first place will apply.
We recognise and understand that athletes have worked intensively throughout the year with the National Championships as their ultimate goal and we apologise for any inconvenience and upset caused.
We hope you can appreciate that we feel this is the most reasonable way to deal with this unfortunate situation.
