Treo Eile to Reward Leading Thoroughbred at National Championships

General News National Championships

“Treo Eile is very pleased to come on board again this year to sponsor the ‘Best Finishing Score for a Thoroughbred’ at the Eventing Ireland National Championships.  There has been a resurgence of Thoroughbreds across all levels in Eventing, due to their speed, stamina and agility.  The quick mind and trainability of the thoroughbred means that they can adapt to a new discipline and it becomes very important when navigating a tricky cross country course.

Of the 500 thoroughbreds registered on our website, Eventing is the most popular route for the ex-racehorse or the thoroughbred that did not make it to the track.  With a mission to ‘connect’, ‘support’ and ‘promote’ the retraining of racehorses, it is exciting to follow these horses as they progress through their second career.  It was very satisfying to see the 9-year-old Handsome Starr and Steven Smith take the red ribbon in the CCI2*-L at the Ballindenisk International Event in April.

There was a positive announcement in May of this year that thoroughbreds will be recognised in the starting lists and results internationally, beginning with the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and it will extend to all FEI competitions.

Treo Eile would like to wish the ‘best of luck’ to the riders of all the thoroughbreds competing at the 2023 Eventing Ireland National Championships.”
