High Performance Plan 2008
The Eventing High Performance Programme is run by Horse Sport Ireland with an input from Eventing Ireland. It is funded 1/3 by Eventing Ireland and 2/3 by the Irish Sports Council.
The management committee
The committee is chaired by Brian Mangan. The High Performance Coach is Ginny Elliot, assisted by two advisors, Eric Smiley and Stephanie Von Schilcher. The High Performance Coach is responsible for team selection.
The plan for the year
• 20th - 21st March: Coaching/Assessment day for Irish based riders - Kill International Equestrian Centre (IRL)
• 2nd - 3rd April: Coaching/Assessment day for English based riders - Unicorn Trust Equestrian Centre, Gloucestershire (GBR)
• 7th - 8th April: Coaching/Assessment day for Irish based riders - Kill International Equestrian Centre (IRL)
• 23rd - 24th April: Coaching/Assessment day for English based riders - Unicorn Trust Equestrian Centre, Gloucestershire (GBR)
• 1st - 4th May: Badminton (GBR) - Ginny Elliot, the International Eventing Management Team and Horse Sport Ireland vet Marcus Swail will attend
• 10th - 11th May: Chatsworth (GBR) - Ginny Elliot and the International Eventing Management Team will attend
• 12th May: Meeting of the committee for the squad selection.
• 16th May: Squad announcement
• 29th May: Tattersalls (IRL) - Selected squad members dinner and briefing at 6.00 p.m.
• 16th - 17th June: training date of the new squad - Unicorn Equestrian Centre, Gloucestershire (GBR)
• 23rd
- 24th June: training date of the new squad - Coilóg Equestrian Centre, Kilmeague, Co. Kildare (IRL)
