Rule regarding Applications to run International Events in Ireland on same or conflicting dates:

Note from Chairman

Posted in News 18/06/2010 09:49:44

[The Board has introduced the following Rule with immediate effect. It is the intention of the Board to settle any such conflicts on dates by acting as a facilitator between organisers to reach agreement. If however agreement is not forthcoming the Board will fall back on this rule in making its decision.]

When considering applications to run international events on the same or conflicting dates the following matters may be considered by the Board of Eventing Ireland before deciding on the applications :

1) have the applicants sought to reach a compromise with regard to dates?

2) If they have, why have they failed to reach a compromise ?

3) Using ISO 8601 as the standard, "week number" will be taken into account where two or more international venues seek to run on the same dates. The venue that has run the most times at national and international level in the week number requested may prevail.

4) In the event that none have a record of running in that week number, or all having equal records, the board may decide to recommend to HSI (NATIONAL FEDERATION) that one or more than one or all venues will run on the dates for which they have applied in the absence of an agreement between them to run on separate dates.

The Board has absolute discretion as to the manner and the grounds on which it will arrive at its final decision on the applications.
