EI Board Communication: July 2025

Board Communication

The following is a summary of the Board Meeting held on 29 July 2025

Entries, Memberships and Registrations

On a positive, entries remain slightly up compared to same time last year.  This is mainly due to being able to run national events on the weekends where the internationals have been held.

Unfortunately, memberships and registrations are approximately 20% down on last year.  The late start to the season in the South can be attributed for the decrease.

Safety Stewards

Under the supervision of Caroline Neville, we have now trained up 6 Safety Stewards.   A webinar was held in July where Caroline explained the roles and responsibility of being a Safety Steward, and this was very well received.

If anyone is interested in becoming a Safety Steward or would like to know a bit more about the role, please contact [email protected]

Constitution

The move towards becoming a CLG continues to make good progress and the Board is now seeking advice from a Tax Advisor to review the Constitution and to prepare and submit the documentation to the Revenue.  More information about the progress of this significant matter will be published on the website in due course where we will be looking for member input.

New Venues for 2026

Discussions with landowners are being held to secure new venues in 2026.  Although in their very early stages we are positive to welcoming both new and old venues back to the calendar.  Please watch this space!

Horse Sport Ireland

Horse Sport Ireland has advised Eventing Ireland that it will no longer be requesting funding for the High Performance programmes as all operational matters are now the responsibility of HSI.

HSI has, however, requested that  Eventing Ireland’s contribution will be to look at ways to retain owners and keep horses in the country for the next Olympic cycle and a plan is underway to speak to owners of 4* and 5* horses for their input.

Whilst there is no request from HSI for funding, it maybe necessary to create funding to do this.  If we can get a sponsor to help with this, it would really help the task.

If you are an owner, or potential sponsor who would like to get involved in eventing, the Board would like to hear from you.  Alternatively, we would love to hear your suggestions to incentivise you to keep your horse in Ireland?  Please send your suggestions, in the first instance, to [email protected]
