Dear Members

The Eventing Ireland Board met last night and the most exciting topic was the start of the Strategic Plan.

You will have seen in the recent mailshot communication, notice on the website and social media posts that we are starting a process for a five year Strategic Plan which the Board hopes will drive the sport forward.

We have engaged Teneo, a professional company that specialises in strategy, change and design for multinational organisations, to facilitate the process.  Teneo have worked for numerous sporting governing bodies including HSI, FEI, IRU so are very experienced in driving this very important project forward and understand the challenges faced by sporting organisations.

As members or supporters of Eventing Ireland, you now have the opportunity to have your say in the future of our sport and we are inviting you to a meeting at Lawlors Hotel, Naas on Thursday 22 June at 6pm for a structured meeting that will include breakout groups.

What are your visions for the sport, how can we make them happen?  What challenges do we face, how can we grow the sport, how can we make it more inclusive, how can we encourage membership and participation?

If you have an interest in the future of Eventing Ireland, we would love to see you on Thursday 22 June!

If you can’t make that meeting, we will be organising an online meeting in the coming weeks.

We will also be inviting all members to fill in an online questionnaire.  This is probably one of the most important decisions that have been made and your feedback is vital.

The Independent Review on the purchase of cross country fences is nearing its conclusion and the outcomes will be shared with the members in due course.

The Governance Committee is doing a lot of work behind the scenes updating policy documents and procedures as well as reviewing the Constitution.  Our intention is to publish Policy documentation on the website once they have been ratified by the Board.  In respect of the Constitution, we will have a members consultation meeting in due course.

For those of you who attended the AGM, it was stressed that our Insurance premiums have increased significantly over the past couple of years.  We are now having to look at ways to cover these costs and will update you when we have more news.

In the meantime we would like to thank all the members for your continued support and hope to see you on Thursday 22 June at 6pm
