Treo Eile 3-Day Thoroughbred Eventing Challenge

Introducing the Treo Eile Thoroughbred Eventing 3-Day Challenge, a brand-new initiative to run at Ballindenisk International 2, from 24-28 September 2025. The class will run as a national EI100 over three days at the International, allowing competitors to experience the atmosphere and thrill of competing at an International alongside some of the biggest names in the sport, all whilst celebrating 50 years of Eventing at Ballindenisk!

Established in 2020, Treo Eile is a not-for-profit providing assistance to racehorse trainers and owners who wish to rehome and retrain horses once racetrack careers are complete. In order to compete at the Thoroughbred Eventing 3-Day Challenge, horses must be registered with Treo Eile and must be named on their passport. Registration to Treo Eile is free – simply visit www.treoeile.com

To qualify, combinations must earn MERs at two EI or BE events in 2025, at EI100 (or BE100) level by 21st September 2025. Combinations can qualify and compete on Day Tickets – no EI membership is required!

Criteria

Eligibility
  • Combinations must not have earned two or more MERs at EI110 level in the current and preceding 5 seasons
  • Riders/Horses must not have competed above EI110 level (as a combination)
  • Combinations may qualify and compete on Day Tickets
  • Riders will be eligible in their 14th year (the year in which they turn 14) or older
  • Minimum age for a horse is 4 years old, minimum age for a pony is 5 years old and minimum height 143cm
  • ERQI must be green or amber at EI100 to be eligible to compete in the class
  • The horse must be registered with Treo Eile
  • Horses must be named on their passport (Treo Eile can assist in the naming of unnamed Thoroughbreds on Weatherbys passports)
Qualification
  • Combinations must earn two MERs at EI100 level in the 2025 season to be eligible for the EI100 3-Day-Challenge
  • MERs can also be earned at BE events – proof of results must be provided to Treo Eile/EI Head Office
  • An MER is:
    • No more than 45 dressage penalties (min 55 good marks)
    • No more than 16 faults Show Jumping
    • Clear jumping Cross Country and no more than 30 time penalties
  • Results from training classes cannot be counted as MERs
