Site Map

A site map is in the Event Programme to assist with familiarisation.

Castlewellan Show

Those travelling from the South and going via Castlewellan should be aware that there is likely to be heavier traffic in that area due to the annual Castlewellan Agricultural Show. Please allow extra time for your journey.

Show Jumping

Show Jumping takes place in the all- weather arena located in the yard, close to the stables.

Please note that a maximum of 6 horses will be allowed in the warm up arena at any time.

Lunging

Lunging can be carried out in the indoor arena which is close to the show jumping arena. Please do NOT lunge anywhere else on the showgrounds.

Horse Welfare

Whilst we may not have the very high temperatures forecast for the Mainland, it is going to be very warm. Therefore, please ensure that you bring plenty of water and electrolytes for your horses.

There will be a water supply at the Finish of cross country to allow horses to be washed down on completion. Please ensure your groom brings your own buckets, sponges, scrapers etc down to the FINISH!

Water for Riders

We are also delighted that Lucy Kayes has very generously offered to provide every rider with a bottle of water at the finish. What a lovely, kind and practical gesture from one of our members – THANK YOU LUCY!!

Competition Queries

This is an important reminder that, under NO circumstances, should you approach the Fence Judges, SJ Judges, Scorers or Officials regarding a scoring issue. All queries should be taken to Dora who will pass on to the relevant Official for investigation.

BIB NUMBERS

Please report to the Secretary’s Office on arrival to pick up your bib numbers. These have been very kindly sponsored by Paddy Hughes of Horse First. The collection of numbers is very important as a means of declaration and allows the Secretary to notify those whose horse passports are required for checking. In addition, it means our Fence Judges can easily read these very visible numbers and prevents any confusion for our Scorers.

COMPETITORS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO START THEIR DRESSAGE PHASE IF THEY ARE NOT WEARING THE HORSEFIRST NUMBERS.

Grassroots Competitors

Welcome to all our Grassroots competitors. It is especially nice to see so many ‘newbies’ on our start list.

We hope you enjoy your day and, hopefully, this will mark the beginning of your eventing career.
