Note from EI Board regarding Cancellations

General News

Dear Members

Following the past four weeks of event cancellations due to the weather, we understand  how disappointing this has been for you all given you are all ready to compete and get your qualifications.

We also know how disappointing it is for our organisers who have put in so much work, time and expense into getting their venues ready for competition only for the rain to make the ground too wet to run safely.  We also have to be very aware that the ground must be good enough for our emergency and officials vehicles to move quickly across the land if required.

As the start of the season is now getting later, we are considering other options, including mid-week events when we are able and we will let you know of progress in due course.

The weather is completely out of our hands but the welfare of horse and athletes is paramount. Please rest assured that we will do everything possible to get the season up and running as soon as we can.

Please can we remind athletes of the updated Rule 30 regarding MERs:

  • All results to count must be with an EI MER
  • At least one MER, for all CCI1*, CI2* and CI3* classes, for FEI A, B, C and D Categorised Athletes must have been achieved within the previous 12 months of the closing date of the nominated entries for the FEI event.
  • At least one MER For Non-Categorised Athletes (NC) must have been achieved within 6 months to the closing date of the nominated entries for the FEI event.  This MER MUST be as a combination (for Ballindenisk International, 6 months is October 2023)
  • Any Athlete and horse combination who are qualified to compete at CI4* or CI5* level but who have not obtained an FEI MER within 13 months prior to the close of entries of an FEI event may compete in any CI2* or CI3* competition. See New Art. 518.3 CCI4*-S/L and CCI5*-L additional requirements.

The last date to get an MER for Ballindenisk International is at Crecora 1 taking place on 21 April.  Entries to Ballindenisk International must be made by noon on Wednesday 10 April.  Applications close tomorrow at noon. Anyone who has not achieved their final MER will have their application and entry fee refunded.

Thank you for your patience and understanding
